Tina Turner’s story from the beginnings as Anna Mae Bullock to the abuses by her husband Ike Turner until the rise to a worldwide rock star is a sing-along of hits that will please Tina’s fans.

No doubts that the American Adrienne Warren is an excellent performer and delivers on all levels. Her voice is the centre of the show.

There are very good moments, like the opening gospel song Nutbush City Limits, the beautiful duets Don’t turn around and Let’s stay together,  and I don’t want to fight, but the production has a rather old fashioned feeling and a predictable trajectory with some lack of creativity and imagination.

The last twenty minutes feel exactly like a Tina’s concert, with the audience standing, dancing and singing. And, at the end of the day, this is perhaps just what the people who go to see Tina the Musical want from this feel good show.
