The government needs to provide "clarity and consistency" on reopening UK's theatres, that are hopeless without a date on which they will be able to open again without social distancing.

"The average play needs a 65% capacity and a musical needs more," he said. “I don’t want to prove that the Palladium can work without social distancing. I want to prove that any venue can. With very basic safety measures any theatre and concert venues will be able to open”

Webber also expressed perplexity as to why people are allowed on a plane or inside a pub yet are not permitted to watch a live performance indoors., as we did from this page and social media many times.

He said that his seven theatres have running costs of one million per month, currently.

“We cannot do this indefinitely. We need a date we can open on”.
