Hit musical Cable Street is returning to London in 2026.
Following two sell-out runs at Southwark Playhouse, the show is set to play Marylebone Theatre in London from 16 January to 28 February 2026.
Cable Street boasts music and lyrics by Tim Gilvin and book and lyrics by Alex Kanefsky, and is directed by Adam Lenson.
The creative team for the show also includes choreographer Jevan Howard Jones, set designer Yoav Segal, costume designer Lu Herbert, associate director Jamie Buller, musical supervisor Tamara Saringer, orchestrator and arranger Tim Gilvin, lighting designer Sam Waddington and Ben Jacobs, sound designer Charlie Smith, dramaturg Olivia Mace, and casting director Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting.
Cable Street tells the true story of the Battle of Cable Street in 1936, and the stories of people living in London’s East End during the 1930’s.
The musical centres on three young workers: Polish Jew, Sammy; an Irish Catholic, Mairead; and a Lancastrian Brit, Ron; with the musical raising important questions around which side the young protagonists and their families are fighting for.
The show garnered a range of positive reviews from both of its previous London runs including five-stars from What’s On Stage, and the Guardian hailing the musical as a “dazzling musical portrait of a community against fascism”.
Casting for this new production is to be announced.
