Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder! is a riotously funny and charming new musical that takes a satirical look at the true crime podcast craze. Bronté Barbé and Rebekah Hinds shine as the titular best friends and amateur sleuths from Hull, delivering pitch-perfect comedic performances and showcasing impressive vocal talents.

The story follows Kathy and Stella, hosts of a struggling true crime podcast, as they find themselves embroiled in a real-life murder mystery when their idolized author Felicia Taylor (Jodie Jacobs) is killed. What ensues is a hilarious and clever whodunit filled with catchy tunes, sharp lyrics, and delightfully over-the-top characters.

The entire cast is stellar, with Jacobs delivering a scene-stealing turn as the flamboyant Felicia. Imelda Warren-Green is a riot as the duo's superfan Erica, and TJ Lloyd brings warmth and humor as the friendly mortician Justin. But it's Barbé and Hinds who truly carry the show, perfectly capturing the codependent dynamic of Kathy and Stella while showcasing incredible comedic chops and vocal prowess.

The book by Jon Brittain is razor-sharp, poking fun at true crime obsessives while also exploring the power of female friendship. Matthew Floyd Jones' music and lyrics are equally impressive, with clever wordplay and earworm melodies that will have you humming long after the curtain falls.

While the plot is admittedly thin at times, the sheer energy and talent of the cast more than make up for it. The set design is also a highlight, with clever use of crime scene tape, evidence boards, and even a live band adding to the immersive experience.

Overall, Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder! is a delightful and distinctive new musical that's impossible not to love. With its winning combination of humor, heart, and catchy tunes, it's a must-see for fans of true crime and great theatre alike. Don't miss this hilarious and charming whodunit.
