The story of the show is the one of the movie. Young Frankenstein returns to Transylvania and the old ancestral castle where he takes up his grandfather’s hated hobby of reviving corpses with huge zaps of electricity.

Whilst clearly rooted to the film and all of its now somewhat laboured humour, the cast are clearly having a ball and lift a sometimes flat script into something very warm and enjoyable. The second half, which is so often an afterthought, is a joy. Shout out to Cory English (Igor) and Summer Strallen (Inga), and Frankenstein’s monster (played by Nic Greenshields) steals the show with his frightfully funny turn. This is one show that’s lifted by a cast that’s clearly enjoying themselves.
