THIS STORY OF YOURS
White Bear Theatre
This play was written by John Hospkin in 1968 and shows that has 50 years in its shoulders. It follows the detective Johnson after he killed a man who he thought to be a paedophile. So, basically, we see the detective breaking down with what we would today call post traumatic stress disorder. Of course it did not exist 50 years ago and things were resolved differently.
The play has an interesting plot and a very good acting but I found difficult to empathize with the detective, who is an abuser and a violent man, also towards his poor wife. Actually, I did not like ANY of the carachters. And, hey, is way too long – almost interminable - and could have been made much shorter.
