More and more shows have been temporarily halted due to Covid cases within the company.
Yesterday, many shows closed their doors: Hamilton, Come from Away, The Prince of Egypt, The Curious Incident, Get up Stand up, Cabaret, The Lion King, Matilda, Hex, Force Majeure, Tina, Life of Pi, The Comedy of errors. Some of them won’t reopen for a few days and The Rhythmics ( Southwark Playhouse) has cancelled the whole run.
Check with the company you have booked with and also the pages of the shows before the performances.
This is devastating and worrying. Please support the theatres that are still welcoming audiences. They need us.
We have stormy times ahead. Producers and theatres are not insured against cancellations for Covid. If last year’s cycle is repeated but without support, many venues will not survive resulting in the loss of many jobs. This is not sustainable in the short or long term, especially because the festive period is crucial to theatres for income and reaching new audiences, especially after most productions were cancelled in 2020.
Thoughts are with all those affected.
