Back to the Future flies to Broadway.

The musical is scheduled to begin performances on June 30 and to open on Aug. 3 at the Winter Garden Theater, which is now home to a starry revival of “The Music Man” that is closing on January 2023.

Two members of the London cast have signed on to reprise their roles on Broadway: Roger Bart as the inventor Doc Brown, and Hugh Coles as George McFly, the protagonist’s father. Casting for the main role, of the teenager Marty McFly, has not yet been announced.

Back to the Future has a book by Bob Gale, co-writer of the film trilogy, and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri, who composed the score for the movie series, and Glen Ballard. The score will also include hits from the film like "The Power of Love" and "Johnny B. Goode." The show received the 2022 WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical.
