The Broadway musical The Outsiders is heading to London’s West End.

The news was announced as the show confirmed it has recouped its $22 million capitalisation costs on Broadway. The Outsiders is currently playing at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York, booking to 13 September 2026.

Based on S.E. Hinton’s book and Francis Ford Coppola’s film, The Outsiders started life at the La Jolla Playhouse in March 2023, and opened at Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on 11 April 2024. The musical went on to win four Tony Awards including Best musical at the 2024 awards.

Alongside a new London production, the show will also open in Asia and Australia. There’s no current information on dates or venue for the London run.

The Outsiders has a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine, and music supervision, orchestration & arrangements by Justin Levine. The show is directed by Danya Taymor (John Proctor is the Villain).

The show is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, where Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their Greaser family of “outsiders” battle against their affluent rivals, the Socs. The show navigates the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them.
