Sophie McCartney bursts onto stage with her hilarious new standup comedy show “One Foot in the Rave”, spinning you into a journey of remembrance of what life was like in the 80s, 90s and noughties and the realities of reaching 40 and beyond.

This side-splittingly funny coming-of-age performance will have you in stitches if you're able to relate to some of her references to things back in the day.

Dressed in a sequin short dress and silver over-the-knee boots, she interacts with her audience and effortlessly brings in fresh impromptu gags, elevating her comedian status.

Sophie's observational humour is on point and she delivers it with a natural ease as she questions what life looks like when you're too old to be young, but too young to be old. Themes weaved in there include the trials and tribulations of childbirth, being a parent, reaching 40 and the word all women dread, Menopause. Plus, there are some fabulous reflections in her comedy routine about Millennials and Generation Z.

She has a warmness and realness to her that draws you in and makes it impossible not to relate to her. She's tapped into her own journey of being perimenopausal and is able to bring it to life on stage with razor-sharp reality and wit.

As is the case for any comedian, there's always a chance that not every single joke is going to land - and this was the case with Sophie too - but there was more than enough fun, laugh-out-loud hilarity and nostalgia that far outweighed the odd joke not hitting the mark.

Sophie has built up a loyal fan base with online sketches, a podcast, and even books. Her debut stand up tour of "Tried and Tested" in 2023 sold out in less than 24 hours and some of those fans returned to see her latest show. After her quick on-stage poll, it was clear the audience was a mixture of loyal fans as well as newbies, mostly women but she was able to successfully acknowledge the handful of men peppered around the venue.

This was definitely a laugh a minute one-night wonder for her London performance at the Bloomsbury Theatre. It's a shame there are no other performances in the capital but she is on tour so you can catch her in other locations. She will not disappoint!
